Dave Berger, University of Pretoria, South Africa
Dave Berger is Professor in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He leads the Molecular Plant-Pathogen Interactions research group in the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI). The food security focus of his research is on the threats of foliar diseases to maize production locally and globally. He completed his PhD at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, followed by a Postdoc at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. He was recipient of the 2016 Special Award in Crop Science and Food Security from NSTF-South 32. NSTF is the National Science and Technology Forum, South Africa. During 2013, he was a USDA Norman E. Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellow at the Department of Plant Pathology, University of Arkansas, USA.
