Helga Gruberg Cazón

Helga Gruberg Cazón is a Bolivian agroecology researcher and professor at Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo. She holds a PhD in Bioscience Engineering from Ghent University and an MSc from Wageningen University. Her work explores how agroecology can be operationalized through participatory and transdisciplinary processes, particularly in the co-creation of food sovereignty pathways.

She currently leads and coordinates international research initiatives funded by VLIR-UOS, focusing on food systems, nutrition, and sustainable agri-food transitions in Bolivia. Her experience bridges academia, policy, and practice, with collaborations involving public institutions, NGOs, and international organizations. She has contributed to research, program evaluation, and policy-oriented processes on agroecology, climate resilience, and local food systems, with a strong interest in linking knowledge systems and fostering transformative change.
