Professor Derani is Professor of International Law, International Economic Law and Environmental Law at Federal University of Santa Catarina – Brazil, since 2010. She was Dean of Graduate at this University from 2018 - 2022.
Invited Professor of Université Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne, since 2024.
Fellow of C-EENRG Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Governance at University of Cambridge – UK, since 2016.
Member of Cambridge Global Food Systems of University of Cambridge. Since 2018.
Chair of Ethics Specialist Group of the World Commission on Environmental law of IUCN, since 2020.
Board Member of Common Home for Humanity international Association, since 2025.
Founding member of the Steering Committee of Ecological Law and Governance Association – ELGA. Since 2016.
Expert of United Nations Harmony with Nature Program, since 2016.
Since March this year, she has served as Director of Academic Cooperation for the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.
