Isabel Lambrecht

Isabel Lambrecht is a Research Fellow in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Her work centers on rural development in fragile and transitioning economies, with field experience in Central Asia (Tajikistan), Southeast Asia (Myanmar), and Sub-Saharan Africa (Ghana, DR Congo, Burundi, Malawi, Uganda). Before joining IFPRI, she earned a PhD in agricultural economics from KU Leuven (Belgium), where her research examined gender dynamics and integrated soil fertility management in Eastern DR Congo and Burundi.

Her interests span gender and agriculture, technology adoption, land tenure, food and nutrition security, poverty, and survey methodology. She has published widely in leading peer-reviewed journals -  including Food Policy, World Development, Land Use Policy, and European Review of Agricultural Economics – and employs quantitative and qualitative research methods. She is also an associate editor for Feminist Economics.
