Sylvia Vetter

Sylvia Vetter is an environmental modeller specializing in the impacts of climate change, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and soil organic carbon management in agricultural systems, grasslands, and land-use changes. Since joining the Environmental Modelling Group at the University of Aberdeen in the UK in 2012, her research has focused on modelling GHG emissions and soil health, with a particular emphasis on soil organic carbon. She evaluates various mitigation strategies, including soil carbon sequestration, use of biochar, and enhanced rock weathering. In addition, her work now encompasses the environmental implications of dietary choices and the overall food system. Her studies operate at multiple scales, ranging from individual farmers and fields to broader national and policy levels, and to the global scale. Recently, she has also directed her efforts toward understanding the impacts of climate change on food prices.
